Activities in Lochaber

There are a wide variety of activities in Lochaber for outdoor pursuits enthusiasts as well as those seeking a relaxing holiday in the Scottish Highlands.

Lochaber Cottage is situated between Fort William (“The Outdoor Capital of the UK”) and the Cairngorm National Park, and easily accessible for both. While the cottage is in a peaceful and secluded location there are a wealth of activities to suit all tastes within a short journey.

Activities in Lochaber are plentiful, including some of Scotland’s best skiing. If you are a mountain biking enthusiast, you are in an ideal territory! The view from the cottage is of the Nevis Range, which is a short drive away and contains excellent trails at all levels, from beginner to professional. The area is a hiking heaven, surrounded by munros as well as shorter family friendly walks through forests.

Many of TripAdvisor’s top 30 attractions in the Scottish Highlands are within a short journey.

It is a golfing paradise, with several courses in the vicinity. There is also kayaking, canoeing and quad biking. On rainy days you can visit museums, distilleries or curl up in front of the cosy fire in the cottage and relax.

You can use the Highlands on Film movie map to search for local locations used in films from Braveheart to Trainspotting and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

The cottage is suitable for children, with an enclosed garden, toys and books and plenty of activities in the area to keep them entertained.
