Travel Information By Train
Roy Bridge is a small village that is on the world-famous West Highland Railway line. This railway line features in the Harry Potter films and has been voted “Top Railway Journey in the World”.
There are direct services to Glasgow and Fort William during the day, and a direct sleeper service to and from London. If you want to arrive by train and then hire a car, Fort William Car Hire will collect you from the train station, bus station or any other arrival point.
If you arrive in Roy Bridge by train you can walk to the cottage in about half an hour.
If you need a taxi to collect you then try Al’s taxi in Spean Bridge, the next village, on 01397 702 545. It is advisable to call the taxi before you start your journey as rural taxis are irregular. There are no taxis waiting at Roy Bridge station.
Travel Information By Car
If you are driving, Roy Bridge is:
- Under three hours from Glasgow and Edinburgh,
- Just over three hours from Aberdeen
- An hour and 20 minutes from Inverness.
Travel Information By Bus
Stagecoach Buses run the service number 41 from the Glen Nevis youth hostel, through Fort William, the Nevis Range and Spean Bridge to Roy Bridge and back. The company also provide a map showing bus routes in Lochaber.
Travel Information By Air
The nearest airports are Inverness (1.5 hours) and Glasgow and Edinburgh (both 2.5 hours), which all have car hire facilities.
